Ares L1A1 SLR AEG (Black)
One of the best L1A1 reproductions available today; like the genuine thing, only the front hand guard, pistol grip, and stock are made of ABS. This fantastic gun is great for the collector and Airsofter who wants a piece of history. It was famous for its use in the Falkland War and is still in service today with some forces.
With so much metal, one may think that a long rifle like this would be unstable and too heavy for skirmishing. Surprisingly, it is quite well balanced and fits the shoulders like a glove, especially when worn with shoulder straps to secure the butt into. Despite its length, even some of our shorter members of staff have found this weapon to be a delight to use. A stunning piece of kit as well as a historically accurate piece of kit, highly recommended.
ABOUT
The L1A1 Self-Loading Rifle, commonly known as the SLR (Self-Loading Rifle), by the Canadian Army designation C1A1 (C1), or in the United States as the “inch pattern” FAL. The L1A1 is manufactured under licence and is used by the Australian Army, Canadian Army, Indian Army, Jamaican Army, Malaysian Army, New Zealand Army, Rhodesian Army, South African Defence Force, and, most notably, the British Army.
The original FAL was designed in Belgium using metric dimensions, whereas the components of the “inch-pattern” FALs are built using British Imperial Units in a slightly modified design. Many sub-assemblies are interchangeable between the two categories, although some of their components may not be. Magazines and butt-stock, which attach in various methods, are notable incompatibilities.
The SLR was a legendary British Forces weapon throughout the Cold War era, serving in conflicts ranging from Aden to the Falkland Islands and Northern Ireland before being replaced by the SA-80 (L85A1)
This rifle, originally chambered in 7.62mm, was extremely strong on the battlefield and is the Semi-only brother of the FN FAL battle rifle. It raised with each shot thanks to an ingenious recoil mechanism that shifted the recoil away from the shoulder ( making auto fire impractical).
Ares’ Airsoft version includes a full metal receiver and polymer parts in place of the original’s and is a high-quality 1:1 scale replica made of metal and polymer. This rifle boasts exceptional internal and external performance. Coming solely in semi-automatic mode out of the box, separate firing selectors are available on our website, as well as fully automatic. Railed top covers are also available on our website separately. It has front and rear sling mounts, adjustable hop, a metal Mid-Cap magazine, and a rod style speed loader. There’s also a carrying handle and a mah release, just as on the genuine steel version.
