CRKT Woods Chogan™ Mattock
The CRKT ChoganTM Mattock, inspired by tools used in World War I trenches, is a lightweight and compact tool. The head of this digging tool, modelled after the type used by British army, may be detached from the handle so that it can be carried on a person’s back or stowed away in a toolbox. The ChoganTM T-Hawk’s tomahawk head is designed to fit on that handle, giving you the option of carrying two tools in one.
Constructed of fire-treated Tennessee hickory and drop-forged 1050 steel for extraordinary toughness and longevity, this tool can take a beating and keep on ticking. The mattock’s broad blade and sharp spike make it ideal for penetrating dense soil.
The mattock’s designer, Ryan Johnson, says he was inspired by his “a lot of experience playing in the dirt” as a kid in addition to his time spent in the trenches. Ryan learned early on the necessity of a good digging equipment from his experiences as a child gardening and seeking for buried relics.
The CRKT ChoganTM Mattock is a compact and lightweight pickaxe designed for outdoor expeditions. It’s great for camping when teamed with the optional woven nylon sheath.
