When Spyderco unveiled the Delica and Endura knives in 1990, they upended everything. Both devices were the first of their kind, pioneering the market for lightweight, one-handed open pocketknives with performance that almost anyone could buy. They quickly became Spyderco’s top two best-sellers.

Constant Quality Improvement, often known as CQI, refers to a process of constant refinement and updating. Spyderco made numerous adjustments to the ergonomics, blade steels, and performance of the Endura and Delica over their CQI journey.

The new Endura4 and Delica4 now have a screw construction, making cleaning and adjustment easier, ushering in the next level. The handles are made of fiberglass-reinforced nylon and include Bi-Directional TexturingTM for increased ergonomics and preferred traction. Dual skeletonized stainless steel liners inside the handle provide the knife more strength without adding weight.

Their flat sabre-ground VG-10 blades have a stronger tip and a bigger 13mm opening hole. The blade’s spine has slip-resistant jimping added to it. The open/close action is improved by phosphor bronze washers, and the clip has been modified to a four-way tip-up, tip-down, left- or right-handed clip.
